No Rest this Winter for the Innkeepers at this Asheville Inn

March 1st, 2011 by Stacy Shelley

It’s winter in Asheville which means it’s low or should I say “slow” season. We should be resting and gearing up for our busy spring, summer and fall….right. Not a chance this year. We have been very busy with winter cleaning, painting and refinishing our floors. The Wible and Thomas Wolfe suites at our Inn have a fresh coat of paint and very shiny floors.  The entrance way, stairs and upstairs hall have also been spruced up with fresh paint. Our Asheville NC Bed and Breakfast is ready to welcome in Spring.

On that note, last Spring we spent a great deal of time in our expansive and lovely yard planting a new perenial garden around the stone patio. We also planted  shrubs, trees and flowers and are excited about seeing all of it come into bloom very soon.  In fact the warm weather last weekend sprang up the Crocus giving us a glimps of Spring.

It’s never too early to be thinking about Spring travel. For reservations or information about our Asheville Inn, please call 888-811-3053 or visit www.pinecrestbb.com.

Asheville Community Theatre Presents Rent

January 24th, 2011 by Stacy Shelley

Hey, this is Asheville.  It’s not necessary to “put on the Ritz” for a night on the town.  No top hat and tails required.

Join the Asheville Community Theatre as it turns 65 this year.  The ACT remains one of the oldest community theaters in the country.  To celebrate their youthful exuberance they’ve put together a season bursting with music, energy, humor, and intrigue.

ACT is proud to present the 1996 Tony Award winning Rent, a hot rock opera that follows a group of bohemians struggling in modern day New York. Based on Puccini’s opera La Boheme, Rent tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.  A truly powerful story.

Music, lyrics and book by Jonathan Larson

Run the Black Mountain Marathon & Mt. Mitchell Challenge and return to this Asheville Inn to Relax

January 24th, 2011 by Stacy Shelley

Begin at dawn in Black Mountain, the quaint “front porch of Western North Carolina”, and follow trails to the “rooftop” of Western North Carolina, the 6,684′ summit of Mount Mitchell – eastern America’s highest point – then return to the start/finish area! With a starting altitude of 2,360′, the elevation gain for this 40-mile run will be 4,324′ – in the first 20 miles! Race founders Wendell Begley of Black Mountain Savings and Trent Thomas from Black Dome Mountain Sports saw a need for this kind of event for both the elite athlete and the weekend warrior. Their goal was to design a race that was attainable physically while offering the opportunity to test oneself against the often-uncooperative forces of nature! The Marathon runners start side-by-side with the Challengers and duplicate their course to the Black Mountain Gap overlook on the famed Blue Ridge Parkway. Here, at an elevation of 5,340′ and with an extraordinary view of Mount Mitchell as a backdrop, Marathoners will turn and retrace their course to the Start/Finish area in Black Mountain.

Whether you are running, a part of the support crew or just a part of the cheering throngs, end your day at this Asheville Inn.  Sink into one of our claw-foot soaking tubs to ease the days fatigue. Book your accomodations in the Grace room and sit in front of the fire to take the chill out of your bones then curl up in your comfy king size bed and enjoy get a good nights sleep. Wake up to the smell of breakfast being prepared. Let us send you out with a full tummy.

The race is Saturday, February 26th . It starts at 6:45am.  Marathon and Challenge competitors assemble on starting line at the bottom of Cherry St. in Downtown Black Mountain. Race starts promptly at 7am.
