The Montford Music and Arts Festival is the largest one day music and arts festival in Western North Carolina and will be in its 9th year May 19, 2012. Head out the door of this Asheville Inn, turn left onto Soco Street and you are there, it’s that close.
The festival has really grown the last few years and now includes two streets in the Historic Montford District. The homes built in Montford Most were constructed between 1890 and 1920, and include a variety of architectural influences in Asheville during the turn of the 20th century. Any street could have a Queen Anne, Victorian and Arts and Crafts home on it. Pinecrest Bed and Breakfast was built in 1905 and embodies a traditional tudor style architecture.
Over 100 art, crafts, food and plant vendors will be located on Montford Avenue and Soco Street. Two stages, one on each street, will offer the perfect setting for all day fun and over 20 bands and musical acts will take the stages. The festival is an exciting way to experience one of Asheville’s most fascinating neighborhoods.
Come rain or shine and join in the fun on Saturday May 19, 2012, at 10:00am and running till 7pm. The festival is free to the public. Take in the festival while staying at this Asheville Bed and Breakfast. Reserve your room online at www.pinecrestbb.com or call 877-811-3058 to book your room.

TripAdvisor has announced that Asheville is one of
15 destinations on the rise for travel and tourism. According to their website, travelers are raving about this mountain town, and creating quite a buzz. This comes on the heels of another designation by TripAdvisor in October, 2011 when Asheville was voted by the website’s users as being a
Top 10 Destination for Food & Wine.
Here’s what TripAdvisor had to say about Asheville:
There’s something about Asheville that makes its blend of remote Appalachian charm and cosmopolitan sophistication seem perfectly natural. The city abounds in cultural attractions and events, many stemming from the literary greats who have lived here. Thomas Wolfe, Carl Sandburg and O. Henry all once called Asheville home. The city has historically been a resort for the wealthy. But there’s also a friendly, small-town atmosphere; the city has a way of making visitors feel right at home. Located at the confluence of two rivers and nestled in the mountains, Asheville is a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts, who have their pick of hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, hot air ballooning and many other activities. So breathe in the fresh mountain air, take a spin along “America’s most scenic drive,” the Blue Ridge Parkway, and soak up the beauty and spirit of this lovely mountain city.

Robert Moog
Moogfest is the annual event that honors the remarkable vision of Robert Moog and his amazing musical inventions that changed the course of music. Moogfest is a 3-day, multi-venue event held in Asheville, NC – the place Bob Moog called home for the last 30 years of his life. The 2011 festival will be held the weekend of October 28 – 30. Moogfest will host artists and audiences from throughout the world in different venues across Asheville’s beautiful, historic downtown.
Moogfest celebrates Bob Moog’s legacy as a sonic pioneer, which will be the thread that unites the festival’s rich array of musical offerings. While the wide range of Moog instruments – the Minimoog Voyager, the Little Phatty, the Etherwave Theremin, Moogerfoogers, and the Moog Guitar – will play prominent roles throughout the festival’s events, the artists performing will certainly not be limited to those who create their work on Moog instruments. Instead, artists will be chosen for their role in creating unique and groundbreaking musical experiences that embody the essence of Bob Moog’s visionary and creative spirit.
In addition to fantastic concerts by renowned performers of all kinds, Moogfest offers opportunities to engage with the artists in panel discussions, question and answer sessions, and workshops. There will also be interactive experiences for the audience to explore their own musical creativity with a variety of Moog instruments. The festival also offers visual art exhibitions, installations, and film screenings throughout the weekend.
Tickets are available online via Ticketmaster through the Moogfest web site, as well as through the Asheville Civic Center Box Office. The ACC box office is located at 87 Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801 and is open weekdays from 10:00AM – 5:00PM Eastern. You may purchase tickets via phone by calling (800) 745-3000.

Summer in Asheville is around the corner and the festival season is just weeks away. Kick off the festival season by booking at this Asheville B & B, on Friday, May 20 through Sunday, May 22 and enjoy our historic neighborhood’s own festival — just down the street.

There will also be surprise performers and a special guest emcee or two.
The Montford Avenue stage will feature four-time Grammy award winner David Holt and the Lightning Bolts, Free Planet Radio, Billy Jonas, Firecracker Jazz band, Westsound , Braid Stream, and Free Flow. The Soco Street stage will be dedicated to some of Asheville’s outstanding, up-and-coming, musical entertainers, including Chompin at the Bit String Band, Cobra Horse, Leigh Glass Band, Pick Your Switch, Songwriters in the Round, Paul Edelman, Dave Desmelik, Jeff Markham, South French Broads, Two of Us, and Spicy Moustache and The Flavor Saviors.

And now for something uniquely Asheville — a performing extravaganza on the fourth weekend of January.
The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival provides artists with opportunities to explore the edges of their work, collaborate across genres and bring new and innovative performances to culturally adventurous audiences.
The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival serves patrons of art from Asheville and beyond by facilitating the creation and production of avant garde work that may otherwise not find a venue. In past years the artistic mix has included actors, dancers, singers, videographers, painters and musicians, presenting a varied range of interesting work including cross-genre improvisation, Butoh dance, sketch theatre, modern dance, and multi-media performance art. The spirit of the festival also leaves the city “vulnerable” to random acts of art, such as fire-dancing in the street or mass mobs of poets.
Each venue plays host to a variety of performers, assuring an interesting mix to challenge and delight audiences. The BeBe Theatre is the Fringe headquarters and box office for tickets, but they will have other venues for the amazing artists and performances in the upcoming festival. The four venues are: Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center; Asheville Art Museum; BeBe Theatre and River Arts District.
Your venue for the weekend is the Pinecrest Bed and Breakfast which provides a comfortable bed, fantastic food and puts you close to all of the action. Join us on the Fringe!
Visit www.pinecrestbb.com for winter rate specials and more information about our historic Asheville, N.C. Bed and Breakfast.
